Emma nee Payne Erskine ( 1854- 1924) was an American poet. Her works include: Iona: A Lay of Ancient Greece ( 1888), When the Gates Lift Up Their Heads: A Retellin of the Fifties ( 1897), The Mountain Girl ( 1912), The ye of Dread ( 1913), Joyful Heatherby ( 1913) and A irl of the Blue Ridge ( 1914).

Dennis is more injured so he sits around healing and Richard goes off to seek his fortune.Meanwhile Peter thinks he loves Mega and proposes to her and asks her to be his when she comes of age.

Then Olive comes back and proposes and Betty realizes she has made a huge mistake.The two boys quarrel over Betty and both boys go missing.Payne Erskine is a genius, because it is here that she starts talking of a Harry King and you could believe it is Jame or Peter.
